World leader in gases, technologies and services for Industry and Health, Air Liquide is present in 80 countries with more than 50,000 employees and serves more than 2 million customers and patients. Oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen have been the core company’s activities since its creation in 1902. Air Liquide’s ambition is to be the leader in its industry, delivering long-term performance and acting responsibly.

Air Liquide anticipates the challenges of its markets, invests locally and globally, and delivers high-quality solutions to its customers, patients, and the scientific community. The company relies on competitiveness in its operations, targeted investments in growing markets, and innovations to deliver profitable growth over the long-term.

Air Liquide’s revenues amounted to € 16.4 billion in 2015, and its solutions, that protect life and the environment, represented more than 40% of sales. Air Liquide is listed on the Paris Euronext stock exchange (compartment A) and is a member of the CAC 40 and Dow Jones Euro Stoxx 50 indexes.

The Group has grown on the basis of oxygen – a vital resource for both industry and health. Over and above the molecule itself, oxygen is a source of inspiration for their teams to create new developments for existing markets and for the future business. “Creative Oxygen” therefore refers to what they do, at the same time as embodying the inventiveness and creativity of their people. Since everyone is familiar with oxygen, their signature speaks for itself. It supports their hundred-year-old brand and adds to its appeal by giving it a new impulse.

Air Liquide has applied process simulation coupled to materials modelling to complement its experimental R&D activity for development of novel solutions for its gas production, purification or storage technologies.

Air Liquide uses the membrane technology for the production or separation of industrial gases. Besides, polymer-based membrane modules for several gas separation applications are commercialised by Air Liquide.

A dedicated R&D activity on polymer membrane fabrication and applications is maintained at MEDAL, 100% affiliate of Air Liquide. Membrane separation systems offer benefits in energy consumption of separation stages with simultaneously lowering the capital expenditure with respect to more mature technologies, such as gas separation by adsorption and distillation.

The project leading to this application has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 734561
